Accounts, sharing, and real-time collaboration

Without signing in, toro4n keeps your models in your browser and nothing leaves it. Signing in is optional and adds one thing: the models you choose to save online can be shared with named people and edited together, with every version kept.

Signing in

There's one way to sign in: a six-digit code sent to your email address. There are no passwords and no sign-in buttons from other companies. The code is valid for ten minutes, for five attempts, and once. The sign-in lasts 30 days from the last day you used it, and you can sign out at any time.

Saving a model online

A model lives in one place: on this device or online. Save online moves it: once the server has it, the copy in your browser is removed, and the top bar says where the open model lives. My models lists the two places separately. Nothing else goes online: a model you don't save online is never sent anywhere, and the only thing the app asks the server otherwise is whether you're signed in.

Sharing

Share an online model with specific email addresses, each with Can edit or Can view. The invited person gets an email with a link and signs in with exactly that address; there's no link that lets anyone else in. Someone who can only view sees the model with a "VIEW ONLY" banner and can't change or select anything. The owner can change or remove access at any time, and anyone can Leave a model that was shared with them.

Editing together

Everyone who has the model open sees the others' changes immediately, who is in the model (chips in the top bar), what they have selected (a ring in their color), and where their pointer is. If two people change the same field, the change that reached the server last wins; different fields on the same node keep both changes. Undo only takes back your own changes, never someone else's. Without a network you keep working, and your changes are sent when it's back.

Version history

File → Version history… shows the current version and the stored versions of an online model, with the time and who changed it, a picture of the chosen version, and its counts of nodes, relationships, and notes. Versions are stored automatically: after five minutes without changes, after at most 30 minutes of continuous changes, and before and after every change an AI assistant makes. All versions from the last 24 hours are kept, then the last per day for 30 days, then the last per week, up to 100. Restore this version makes the model identical to it, as an ordinary undo step that everyone sees.

Folders

In My models, New folder creates a folder of your own. Drag a model into it or use Move to…. Folders are personal: you sort the models you can reach, your own and those shared with you, and nobody else sees your folders. One level, and a model is in at most one folder. Deleting a folder never deletes a model.

Deleting

The owner can delete an online model; everyone it was shared with loses it. Delete account… under Account removes the account, its models, and its shares.

Where online models are and who can read them

Online models are stored on toro4n's own server within the EU, encrypted in transit and at rest, and only the owner and the people the model is shared with can open them. They're protected the way other collaborative tools protect documents, by access control, not by end-to-end encryption: the operator can technically read them but doesn't. Material that must not leave your organization is best kept out of online models; without signing in, nothing leaves the browser. Details are on the page on how your data is handled and in the Security tab of the app's help.
